Fermoie Is Proud To Unveil A Unique New Collection of PFC/PFAS-Free Outdoor Fabrics

A Considered Approach

Over recent years, Fermoie has received repeated requests from customers, for fabrics suitable for outdoor use. However, the company was not prepared to take easy shortcuts to deliver a ‘quick win’ or compromise its founding beliefs and commitment to sustainability by using mainstream materials and methods.

As a reward for their patience, customers can be assured that the new fabrics are made using same the in-house techniques as the Fermoie products they know and love. Naturally, this includes a bespoke basecloth woven to the company’s specification: in this case, from 100% recycled plastic bottles. The cloth is skilfully woven to give the same soft handle and texture as their cotton cloth.

Created to Perform - Without Compromise

Designed for easy care and long life, their new Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are free of PFC/PFAS-free and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’. The fabric is water resistant, anti-mould, anti-mildew and UV stable.

Customers can choose from nine classic Fermoie designs - Wicker, Popple, Sicily, Rabanna, Shell Grotto, York Stripe, Poulton Stripe, Orchard Stripe and Strie – in a variety of colourways, giving them 23

Indoor-Outdoor options in total. All offer the unique Fermoie blend of resolute modernity and timeless style, and the unique interplay of light, colour and texture that is a defining characteristic of every Fermoie fabric.

“For years, customers have been asking us when we’ll produce fabrics they can use outdoors. We’ve always politely replied that we’d do so just as soon as we could translate the look and feel of our interior fabrics in a safe and sustainable way without the use of harmful chemicals... It’s been a long, painstaking process, but through patience, innovation and careful development, we’ve finally achieved it.

Our new indoor-outdoor fabrics are made using 100% recycled plastic bottles and are entirely free from PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’”.   Tom Helme, co-founder, Fermoie

About Fermoie

About Fermoie

Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, lampshades and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary colour-mixing and production techniques. Every Fermoie design begins with the drawn line, with the full repeat pattern meticulously created by hand, on paper, before it’s translated to screen engraving. Every colour is individually created, mixed and edited in-house according to our carefully considered palette and artistic principles. Customers can be confident that any chosen combination will match perfectly, ensuring aesthetic harmony, artistic balance and design integrity.

All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and made to the company’s specification, in line with its founding environmental commitments.

Pure linen is woven to the studio team’s specification from highly sustainable flax grown locally to the mill. Cottons, union cloths and linen sheers are produced in England. Launched in 2024, its Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are woven in Lancashire, England from 100% recycled plastic bottles and are made without PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’.
