  • Fermoie wins Britain’s most coveted commercial prize, the King’s Award for Enterprise 2024.
  • Fermoie is one of the winners in the International Trade category in the King’s Awards for Enterprise 2024.
  • Accolade is recognised as a mark of excellence and high performance worldwide.

We’re thrilled and honoured to receive the King’s Award for Enterprise. We’ve worked incredibly hard to build our company and develop our export business, which has grown eightfold in just four years and now accounts for over half our annual turnover. There’s a real appetite among international customers, particularly in America but also across Europe and further afield, for beauty in design and print. We’re delighted that our hand-drawn artwork, distinctive colours and beautiful fabrics, all manufactured entirely in-house here in the UK, have found such a receptive audience right across the world.”

Jamie Shawcross, Director, Fermoie

Fermoie received the Award after growing its export business by over 800% in just four years, through a strategy based on creating beauty in design and print alongside unparalleled customer service. It has built its success on USPs including original hand-drawn artwork, unique colours, an innovative take on traditional printing, and the fact that all Fermoie fabrics are designed and made entirely in-house.

Exports now account for over half the company’s total turnover. The U.S is its largest overseas market accounting for over 40% of overall global sales. Fermoie has a true ‘coast-to-coast’ presence, with representation in multi-line showrooms selling exclusively to interior designers and architects; and nationwide retail stores stock lampshades and cushions made in Fermoie fabrics. The company also has partner showrooms across Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

In the current financial year, export performance has exceeded planned targets, with year-on-year growth running at 25% in the US. The company is now focusing on growing its existing markets in UK, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, and exploring new opportunities throughout the EU and the Gulf States.

About Fermoie

About Fermoie

Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, lampshades and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary colour-mixing and production techniques. Every Fermoie design begins with the drawn line, with the full repeat pattern meticulously created by hand, on paper, before it’s translated to screen engraving. Every colour is individually created, mixed and edited in-house according to our carefully considered palette and artistic principles. Customers can be confident that any chosen combination will match perfectly, ensuring aesthetic harmony, artistic balance and design integrity.

All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and made to the company’s specification, in line with its founding environmental commitments.

Pure linen is woven to the studio team’s specification from highly sustainable flax grown locally to the mill. Cottons, union cloths and linen sheers are produced in England. Launched in 2024, its Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are woven in Lancashire, England from 100% recycled plastic bottles and are made without PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’.

Fermoie was established in 2010 by Farrow & Ball founders Tom Helme and Martin Ephson. It now employs over 50 people at its design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough, Wiltshire and showroom and retail space in Pimlico Road, London, where cushions and lampshades are also available for purchase.
