Purveyors of luxury contemporary home interior goods, Where Saints Go, have recently added the Thaddeus Collection to their range, which comprises a gold-finish metal and boucle fabric Bar Stool and Dining Chair. A celebration of skilled craftsmanship and textural boucle upholstery, the collection seeks to bring “ texture, comfort and luxury into any abode.”

Where Saints Go product expert Faye Leeming explains that the term ‘boucle,’ which continues to be a key search trend since it soared to popularity in early 2020, doesn’t refer to the style of the chair itself, but the material that it is upholstered in. She tells us “The word itself is French, and means loop, with more detailed translations meaning “curled” or “ringed.” The fabric has a fuzzy, nubby effect which is achieved by looping three yarns with different tensions, to create the desired texture.

Boucle has been a popular mainstay throughout different periods, brought to the masses by fashion house Chanel (think of any classic Chanel jacket - it’s probably boucle) and also by Florence Knoll in the late 1940s, who requested that Eero Saarinen create a chair that she could “really curl up in” -  little did Knoll know that the renowned designer would take her request so literally and that the texture would go on to become a defining facet of mid-century design.”

And so enter the brand’s latest collection, Thaddeus. Both pieces are supported by a solid metal gold-finish base which has been etched and shaped to create definition, with ply seats padded out in comfortable foam and finished in stunning boucle upholstery. With an understated palette and high-end materials, the Thaddeus collection is the epitome of contemporary, quiet luxury.
