Orla Kiely is a global name in fabric design since 1995. Her dream to create designs that are welcoming, friendly and retro are personified in this exclusive collection of made to measure window blinds.
The children’s blind range was created exclusively for Blinds 2go with inspiration taken from a series of Orla Kiely children’s books which is now out of print.
“We’ve designed many prints over the years for children and for this collaboration we gathered our most favourite, fun styles. We wanted them to be just perfect for a baby or toddlers room, but with our clean, pared back style. “ said Orla. “I remember being fascinated with patterns in my childhood growing up such as the tiles in the kitchen, the flowers on the curtains and the colours that held them all together. Looking back now I think these patterns made me happy and also inspired me to be more creative myself!”
“It’s important for children to have visual stimulation, funny elements they can look at and relate to. I wanted this range to be for children, but with a more grown up colour palette and a less is more approach so that the motifs we used really stand out and are not lost in the colours.” continued Orla. “When decorating a children’s bedroom my one piece of advice would be to keep it simple but playful, and don’t shy away from colour or pattern. There is so much joy in both and a child’s imagination at early stages will develop and grow when they have lots of fun things to look at. Colour and pattern can be both engaging and soothing.”
